Remaining Positive!
In this webinar, Joyce speaks from her new book "Teaching the Ms. Abbott Way" on a crucial element of effective education. So often, teachers in schools feel limited by the abilities/deficits their students come to them with. Follow these tips for an empowering approach and practical best practices for keeping the bar high, no matter what!
Ms. Joyce Stephens Abbott
This webinar is brought to you by a proud Philadelphia native who dedicated her career to serving the School District of Philadelphia as a passionate educator--Ms. Joyce Stephens Abbott! Before her teaching career, she spent ten years in the United States Army, rising to the rank of staff sergeant and completing a ten-month tour during the Persian Gulf War. She earned numerous award nominations throughout her career and was recognized for her exceptional teaching methods and classroom management.
Ms. Abbott remains deeply committed to fostering positive and productive change, particularly for students. In addition to mentoring teachers, she has held various leadership roles. She retired in 2022 as the climate manager at Andrew Hamilton School, where her leadership contributed to the school being honored by the district for its significant improvements in school climate and culture.Â
Her work and impact have been highlighted in major Philadelphia media, including a feature in the Netflix series Abbott Elementary. In September 2023, the intersection near her alma mater, Overbrook High School, was renamed Joyce Abbott Way, and the City of Philadelphia declared September 26 as Joyce Abbott Day in her honor.
Now that you are signed up, you will receive an email the day after the webinar with a playback link to the full video and the FREEBIE in your inbox! However, we really hope to see you on Thursday night!
